ID
U
6.0 CONCLUSIONS
Based on the results of the installation of three monitor wells (MW-3A, MW-10, and
' MW-11), groundwater sampling at the Canteen Corporation facility located at 1500 Shaw Road
in Stockton, California, and at the adjacent U.S Chemical Corporation facility, located at 1448
' Shaw Road, the following is concluded
' • Soil analytical results from the installation of monitor wells MW-3A, MW-10,
and MW-11, indicated that only one sample of the 17 analyzed had concentrations
above the laboratory detection limits. The interval from 65 to 66.5 feet in
monitor well MW-10 had a benzene concentration of 11 µg/kg and a TPH value
' of 1 0 mg/kg.
• The potentiometric surface had a gradient of 0 28 feet per 100 feet to the south
The direction and gradient have remained consistent since gauging was initiated
in June 1993
' • Review of the groundwater analytical data indicates that the significant reduction
in hydrocarbon concentrations continues Via natural attenuation, benzene levels
in monitor well MW-1 have decreased from 11,000 µgll (06/03/93) to below the
laboratory detection limit of 0 3 µg11 TPH concentrations in the same monitor
well have declined from 38,000 µg/l to below the laboratory detection limit,
' during the same time frame
' • To determine if representative groundwater samples have been obtained in the
past from monitor wells with the groundwater elevation above the screened
interval, monitor well MW-3A was installed adjacent to monitor well MW-3.
7
1
