southeast of the property However, the measurements taken on
3/29/1995 from all 11 wells supports a southerly gradient in this
area
3 . The limits of soil contamination appear to have been defined
in all directions . Monitoring wells #5, 6, & 7 did not reveal
any contamination in soil samples, which provides a "zero" line
to the northwest, southwest , & south. Monitoring wells #1, 2 , 3 ,
& 4 did show some contamination in soil samples at 51 ' bgl &
deeper However, that is most likely due to fluctuations in the
water table which has caused some of the gasoline compounds to be
adsorbed by the sediments . This is supported by the fact that
except an two shallow core samples, there was no soil contamina-
tion noted above 511 , groundwater has been above that depth in
the recent past
We have requested that we be allowed to obtain water samples from
monitoring wells 1 & 2 on the U S Chemical site prior to their
destruction in order that we may determine if the groundwater
plume has reached those wells Canteen Corp. & U.S Chemical
are preparing the necessary agreements to allow that that work to
proceed. The next quarterly monitoring is due about July 1, we
would like to perform the sampling of the U S . Chemical wells an
conjunction with that schedule We will notify your office when
that sampling event is scheduled.
Further assessment work will be discussed after we have completed
the above sampling and have reviewed the results .
Wm nter & Associates
cc : Ca teen Corp.
