•
lowest levels of contamination_ However, a review of TABLE i
reveals that is not the case. Levels of TPH-G have been higher
than in either MW-2 or MW-4 , except for the 9/93 sampling period,
when MW-4 was slightly higher. Levels of BTEX have also been
higher in most cases, although there does not appear to be a good
correlation between those components. The data continues to
indicate the existence of another offsite source to the north-
northeast may exist. During recently completed work, a monitor-
ing well was placed in the extreme northeast corner of the
property; it may assist in further defining the plume in that
direction.
SUMMARY OF RESULTS O DATE:
I . The lateral extent of the groundwater plume has not yet been
defined; the data from the newly completed wells on the site, not
yet analyzed, may assist in this task.
2. The groundwater gradient as measured has been consistently in
a southerly direction, which is not consistent with either the
regional gradient or data from nearby monitoring wells located
southeast of the property. Further study will be needed to
. resolve this difference.
3. There does not appear to be a significant reduction in levels
of contamination measured to date in the four wells, although
there are considerable variations between sampling periods
4. The rather significant changes in water table depths may be a
factor in the variations in levels of contamination observed in
the wells. We do not have sufficient data on seasonal changes in
groundwater levels to be able to analyze the data in more detail.
Three additional monitoring wells were recently placed on the
property in order to further define the lateral extent of the
groundwater plume. The results of that work have not yet been
analyzed; a detailed report covering that project will be
submitted as soon as all data has been received. The three new
wells will be included in the next quarterly monitoring, which is
due in No 7p1mber
OG
W . unter & Associates 5
S p mber 21, 1994 ti
WILLIAM 1 H"
cc: Canteen Corp.
• CVRWQCB - Beth Thayer NO em
q 4F CA1-1
2
