Used Oil Management,® <br /> Used oil must be contained at all times in appropriate containers designed to keep liquid contents from <br /> escaping. Lids and closures must be kept closed at all times unless depositing oil and maintained by the <br /> operator using the receptacle at that time. <br /> Used oil does NOT include: <br /> * Antifreeze a Oils mixed with hazardous waste <br /> • Brake fluid 0 Wastewater containing small amounts of <br /> • Other automotive wastes used oil <br /> • Fuels(gasoline,diesel,kerosene,etc.) 0 Oils containing 5 ppm polychlorinated <br /> ® Grease biphenyls(PCBs)or greater Oily wastes <br /> • Solvents that are not used oil <br /> • Substances which are not oils i Oily wastewaters that are not used oil <br /> • Oils with a flashpoint below 100°F ® Tank bottoms <br /> • Oils containing more than 1,000 parts 0 Used oil processing bottoms <br /> per million(ppm)total halogens unless ® Used oil re-refining distillation bottoms <br /> the rebuttable presumption is rebutted 0 Cooking oils(edible) <br /> Dote:Non-petroleum derived edible oils that exhibit hazardous characteristics are hazardous wastes, <br /> but are not technically regulated as"used oil" <br /> Oil Spills must be minimized on every job or task.Prepare the area in a manner that eliminates or at least <br /> minimizes the amount of potential oil spill.If oil is spilled on a paved or indoor surface,you must <br /> immediately use a spill absorbent to clean the spill.To clean an oil spill,follow manufactures guidelines <br /> on the absorbent used. <br /> Oil-Dri Quick-Sorb granulated absorbent: <br /> 1. Cover spill with a thin layer of absorbent <br /> 2. Using a stiff broom,work the absorbent evenly into the liquid until saturated(will turn dark in <br /> color).Add more absorbent as needed. <br /> 3. (Sweep up)dispose of saturated absorbent in 55 gallon UN rated drum labeled"Used Oil Spill <br /> Absorbent"and dated with the date the first amount of used oil absorbent was placed into the <br /> container. <br />
