2.0 PROPOSAL SITE INVESTIGATION ACTIVITIES
In order to assess the impact of the compound presence detected
in the soil sample from location SW, OCC will conduct site investigation
activities around location SW. OCC will install seven boreholes in the area
shown on Figure 4. Each borehole will be installed to a total depth of eight
feet beneath the ground surface (bgs) using a stainless steel hand auger.
From each borehole, soil samples will be collected at depths of two feet,
five feet and eight feet bgs using a tube driver lined with stainless steel
sample collection tubes. Additionally, five foot and eight foot depth bgs
samples will be collected from location SW.
Immediately adjacent to the west side of the area of concern is the
groundwater monitoring well cluster PW -22. The groundwater elevation at
that location is 14.7 feet beneath the ground surface (bgs). This
investigation will not extend beyond the eight foot depth as a hard pan
typical of the area is known to exist at a depth of three feet to eight feet
bgs. If the hard pan is encountered prior to the completion of the
borehole, its presence will be noted in the field log book and a mechanized
auger may be needed to penetrate it.
At the selected depth, the auger will be removed from the borehole
and the tube driver will be used to retrieve the sample. All cuttings
returned to the surface from the borehole installations will be containerized
onsite pending receipt of the analytical results. Once all the samples are
collected, the boreholes will be filled with cement which will be poured into
the hole from the surface.
C
