The Work Plan was prepared by ARCADIS US, Inc. (ARCADIS)
on behalf of Glenn Springs Holdings, Inc., (GSH) for the former Occidental Chemical
Corporation manufacturing facility (Site). The Site is located at 16777 South Howland Road in
Lathrop, San Joaquin County.
The Work Plan proposes to install sixteen (16) additional groundwater monitoring wells on-Site
and off-Site. The four (4) new monitoring wells clusters (PW33 through PW36) will each consist
of three (3) monitoring wells. The two (2) shallower depth wells within each new proposed
cluster will be constructed as nested wells within one borehole. Additionally, four (4) deep
monitoring wells will be installed at existing clusters PW01, PW21, PW25, and PW30.
The purpose of proposed Work Plan is to assess groundwater quality and groundwater flow
gradients at depths up to approximately 260 feet below ground surface between the Site and
potential receptors including the Simplot supply well and City of Lathrop Water District wells
LWD-6, LWD-7, and LWD-8.
Central Valley Water Board staff concurs with the proposed work in the Work Plan. Please
provide at least a one-week notice of field activities to allow Central Valley Water Board staff the
opportunity to observe the fieldwork.
If you have questions or comments, please contact me at 916-464-4658, or by E-mail at
ssewalia@waterboards.ca.gov
Siddharth Sewalia
Water Resource Control Engineer
Private Sites Cleanup Unit
KARL E.
