The Contractor will furnish and install discharge piping for the
pumping unit of sufficient size and length to conduct water to a
point designated by the supervising geologist, together with
acceptable orifices, meters, or other approved devices, which will
accurately measure the flow rate. The length of discharge pipe
required will not exceed 1001 .
The initial pumping rate will be restricted. As the water clears,
the pump rate will be gradually increased until the maximum rate is
reached. The maximum rate will be determined by the supervising
geologist after consideration of the well 's drawdown and discharge
characteristics. At proper intervals the pump shall be stopped and
the water in the pump column shall be allowed to surge back through
the pump bowls and through the perforated area.
The Contractor shall continue development until, in the opinion of
the supervising geologist, the following conditions have been
properly met:
a. Sand production is less than 5. 0 parts per million within ten
minutes after commencement of pumping at the maximum pumping
rate. Sand production shall be measured by a centrifugal sand
separating meter.
b. There is no further increase in specific capacity during
pumping and surging. The estimated drawdowns will be devel-
oped from data collected during development.
2 - 7
