SECTION 4 COMPLETION OF WELL CONSTRUCTION 4. 0 Final Cleanup After completion of all well tests, the Contractor will remove the test pumping equipment. The Contractor will then sound the well, and, if necessary, bail it clean of all loose material. The Contractor will then secure the well by tack-welding a steel plate on the top of the casing. The Contractor will restore all areas used for mud pits, percola- tion points, or other uses to their original conditions and levels. 4 . 1 Concrete Slab A three-foot by three-foot by two-foot above grade (3 ' x 3 ' x 21 ) concrete surface pad will be constructed at the well head. The pad will slope away from the well. See drawing presented in Appendix B showing completed well head arrangement for reference. 4 . 2 Disinfection After the well has been completely constructed, it shall be thoroughly cleaned of all foreign substances, including tools, timbers, rope, debris of any kind, cement, oil, grease, and scum. The casing pipe shall be thoroughly swabbed, using alkalis if necessary, to remove oil, or grease. The well shall then be disinfected with chlorine solution. The chlorine solution used for disinfecting the well shall be of such volume and strength and shall be so applied that a concentra- tion of at least 50 ppm of chlorine shall be obtained in all parts of the well. Chlorine solution shall be prepared and applied in accordance with the directions of, and to the satisfaction of the supervising geologist, and shall remain in the well for a period of at least two hours. In the event that the test pump is installed after the well has been disinfected, all exterior part of the test pump coming in contact with the water shall be dusted with a chlorine compound as directed by the supervising geologist. 4. 3 Well Performance Guarantees It is the general objective of these specifications to achieve sand-free and efficient wells. The Contractor will guarantee his work in terms of sand production of the well in accordance with the following: Sand production shall be less than five (5) parts per million (ppm) within 15 minutes at the maximum test capacity determined by the step drawdown test. Sand production shall be measured by a 4 - 1
