GEOMATRIX
Constituent Method
Sulfolane APPL Method
EDB/DBCP EPA 8011
Total Alkalinity SM2320b
Dissolved Manganese EPA 200.7
Dissolved Iron EPA 200.7
Dissolved Organic Carbon EPA 415.1
Table 3 is a sampling and analysis plan for Phase 1 EMP. As part of a quality assurance project
plan(Appendix A),blank and duplicate field samples will be collected for selected analyses
and the laboratory will provide analytical results of quality assurance analyses in accordance
with the specified methods.
Geomatrix will review the Phase I EMP data for evaluating the extent and nature of the release.
If the available data are insufficient to characterize the nature and extent of the dissolved solids
release, an additional phase of sampling may be proposed(Phase II EMP). If the available data
characterize the nature and extent of the dissolved solids release, Simplot will proceed with an
EFS to describe/evaluate"the corrective action measures that could be taken"to achieve
WQPS (Section 20420).
5.1.1 Exploratory Borings
Geomatrix plans to advance nine borings at the approximate locations identified in Figure 3.
The basic protocols for field activities are included in Appendix A. Select and site-specific
procedures are described in the following sections.
Permits
Prior to any subsurface work, Geomatrix will obtain the appropriate permits from the
San Joaquin County Department of Environmental Health. Since all of the proposed locations
occur on Simplot property, encroachment permits are not anticipated to be required.
Underground Utilities
At least 2 business days prior to the initiation of the advancing of borings, Geomatrix will
notify Underground Services Alert as required by law. Additionally, Geomatrix will contract
with a private utility locator to clear each boring location. All boring locations will be also
cleared by a Simplot representative. Finally, each boring location will be hand-augered to a
minimum depth of 5 feet bgs.
1:`:6000s\6741.000'Archiv66741-13.doc 8
