Lodi Rail/Multimodal Station Site
Phase II Investigation - Workplan
Background
Site Location:
Lodi Rail/Multimodal Station Site (Site)
Approximately 50 South Sacramento Street to 28 North Sacramento Street,
Lodi, CA
The Site is bounded by East Elm St. on the north, Southern Pacific Railroad on the east, East
Oak St. on the south, and North and South Sacramento Street on the West (See Figure 1,
Vicinity Map).
Client:
City of Lodi
221 West Pine Street
P.O. Box 3006
Lodi, CA 95241-1910
Current Property Owner:
Southern Pacific Transportation Company
One Market Plaza, Suite 912
San Francisco, CA 94105
General Site Information:
Topography is relatively flat with elevations varying from approximately 52 feet at the north
end of the Site to approximately 48.5 feet at the south end of the site.
Geologic conditions consist of Pleistocene alluvial deposits. The alluvium is expected to
consist of interbedded, poorly graded to well graded sand, medium dense, silty sand, sandy
silt, sandy clay and clay.
Nearby site investigations and ground water maps produced by the San Joaquin County Flood
Control and Water Conservation District indicate that ground water may be encountered at
a depth of 50 to 60 feet below the ground surface. The general ground water gradient
appears to be to the south-southwest. Ground water in the downtown Lodi area is known to
have been contaminated with chlorinated solvents, Perchloroethylene (PCE) and
Trichloroethene (TCE). Off-site investigations suggest that this contamination extends
beneath the Site.
1
V ESPANA GEOTECHNICAL CONSULTING
