(Wright) has prepared the workplan for assessing
the contamination at the above referenced site. As you know, the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) has requested that further work be done to
ascertain the presence and extent of contamination from the former underground storage tanks.
Background
One underground storage tank reported to be 500 gallons and last containing gasoline was removed in
1990 during realignment of Sixth Street in front of the Tracy Delta Disposal, located at 99 West Sixth
Street. The tank was located under the sidewalk adjacent to the former Sixth Street alignment. Soil
samples showed Petroleum Hydrocarbons as Gasoline (TPHG) and Low levels of Toluene,
Ethylbenzene and Xylenes.
Technical Approach
The technical approach to this project is to conduct a horizontal and vertical investigation of the site and
vicinity. The area is somewhat constricted due to the proximity of the street and buildings, so a phased
approach is proposed. Consistent with the City of Tracy requirements, a traffic control plan will be
developed since some of the work will occur in the street. Soil borings and reconnaissance soil and
groundwater sampling will be done at the_locations shown on Figurl_ This should provide an
assessment of the approximate contaminant extent in groundwater. The data collected in these borings
will be used to select locations for permanent groundwater monitoring wells. This should allow the
dissolved plume to be located and monitored, and cleanup approaches to be evaluated.
Field Activities and Methods
Exploratory Soil Borings for Reconnaissance Sampling
The exploratory borings will be advanced to the uppermost groundwater bearing strata to collect soil
samples, depth to water measurements, and collect reconnaissance groundwater samples. The
boreholes will be temporarily cased and developed, and covered for about 24 hours. The ground water
samples collected from the boreholes will be used forarapid reconnaissance of the site groundwater
contamination. All sampling, drilling, sealing and well construction will follow th Geoscience Protocols
(Attachment C) of Wright.
4220 Commercial Dr., Suite 5 • Tracy,CA 95376
209.833.0758 • Fax 209.832.5152
wright@inreach.com Lic. #651501 A-B HaWat g
