Confirmation Soil Sampling Work Plan
FIRE STATION#2
110 West Sonora Street, Stockton, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE OF WORK
At the request of the City of Stockton,Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared the
enclosed Confirmation Soil Sampling Work Plan for the property located at 110 West Sonora Street,
Stockton,California(the site). The scope of work includes collection and analysis of additional soil
samples for confirmation soil sampling in conjunction with soil vapor extraction remediation of
hydrocarbon-impact soil and ground water at the site. The location of the site is illustrated on
Figure 1. A plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 2.
This work plan is prepared at the verbal request of the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department(EHD)received during the quarterly meeting held at the EHD on 04 August 2006, and
in the EHD directive letter dated 07 August 2006. The purpose of the work is to collect soil samples
from the"core"petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted area at the site,to evaluate the remaining mass of
hydrocarbons impacting the soil at the site, and to determine the potential impact on human health
(indoor air intrusion) of the site's residual hydrocarbons.
This work plan is prepared in accordance with Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board
(CVRWQCB) guidelines for investigation of underground storage tank (UST) sites and in
accordance with Guidance For The Evaluation And Mitigation Of Subsurface Vapor Intrusion To
Indoor Air (15 December 2004, revised 07 February 2005), established by the California
Environmental Protection Agency(Cal EPA)-Department of Toxic Substances Control(DTSC)for
the intrusion of subsurface vapors into buildings.
2.0. BACKGROUND
The site is bounded on the north by Sonora Street,on the west and south by Madison Street, and on
the east by Commerce Street.Presently,a single building is located at the northern portion of the site,
occupied by the City of Stockton-Fire Prevention Department. The businesses surrounding the site
are mostly industrial, with a few residences east of the site.
A diesel/gasoline fueling system previously occupied the northwestern portion of the site; a
petroleum hydrocarbon release from the associated USTs is presently being remediated by
procedures outlined in Design Plans and Specifications For Soil and Groundwater Remediation,
prepared by ATC Associates Inc. (ATC) as approved by the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services - Environmental Health Division(PHS-EHD), by letter dated 03 January 2001.
A soil vapor extraction (SVE)/in-situ air sparging (IAS) system was installed during August and
September 2001.Soil vapor monitoring and sampling events, ground water sampling events, and the
results of laboratory analysis of the samples collected have been documented in subsequent quarterly
Advanced GeoEnvironmentai,Inc.
