r Work Plan Addendum February 8, 1990
Fire Engine Company No. 2, Stockton, California AGS 38009-2
r
o Collect and sample relatively undisturbed soil samples at 5-foot intervals from the
ground surface to the total depth of the boring, and classify the samples according
to the Unified Soil Classification System.
o Evaluate drill cuttings and samples for evidence of hydrocarbon contamination, using
a photoionization detector. The volume of cuttings from the soil borings is estimated
to be approximately 3 cubic yards. Cuttings will be stored on and covered with
plastic sheeting.
o Install a 2-inch-diameter'ground-water monitoring well in the boring north of the fire
station building.
o Develop the ground-water monitoring well at least 24 hours after the well is grouted.
r o Purge and sample the monitoring well 24 hours after well development; however, if
floating product is noted during subjective analysis of the ground water, the well will
not be sampled.
o Analyze selected soil samples from each boring for TPHg by Environmental
Protection Agency(EPA)Preparation Method 5030 and modified EPA Method 8015,
BTEX by EPA Method 8020,and TPHd by EPA Preparation Method 3550 and EPA
Method 8015. Samples will be analyzed by a laboratory certified by the State of
California for the requested analyses.
o Analyze the groundwater sample from the new well for TPHg by modified EPA
., Method 602, TPHd by EPA Method 8015, and STEX by EPA Method 8020.
o Collect four soil samples from the stockpiled drill cuttings to be composited into one
sample at the laboratory. Analyze cuttings for constituents dewcted in the soil
boring samples. If contamination concentrations are sufficiently low, the soil will be
disposed of at a Class III facility. If the analyses indicate soil contamination is
— present at levels of unacceptable concentrations, the soil will be treated by aeration
onsite until contaminant levels are acceptable for disposal at a Class III facility.
o Re-evaluate the ground-water flow direction using data obtained from the four wells.
ti. o Prepare a Problem Assessment Report summarizing our findings, conclusions, and
recommendations. The Problem Assessment Report will meet the requirements of
the S3PHS and the California Regional Water Quality Control Board,Central Valley
Region. Soil and water remediation alternatives will be submitted in a separate
report. If additional delineation is necessary, preparation of the Problem Assessment
w
3
