March 9, 1988 AGS 038009-1
Fire Engine Company No. 20 Stockton, California
ca
LOCAL GEOLOGY
n
The site is located within the Eastern San Joaquin County Ground--
Water Basin, as defined by the California Department of Water
,,) Resources (1980) . The area is underlain by flood basin and
fluvial sediments consisting of clay, silt, and sand (California
Division of Mines and Geology, 1966) . The topographic surface is
nearly flat with a slight westward slope. There are two surface
streams in the vicinity of the site: Mormon Slough is located
approximately 500 feet to the southwest, and the eastward
extension of the Stockton Deep Water Channel (including MacLeod
Lake) is located approximately 2,000 feet to the north and
northwest. Both bodies of water empty into the San Joaquin River
approximately 2 miles downstream from the site.
Based on our experience in the vicinity, the depth to first
ground water is estimated to be approximately 20 feet below the
ground surface. According to the San Joaquin County Public Works
Department and the City of Stockton Municipal Utilities
Department, the down-gradient direction of the ground-water
surface is oriented east-southeast.
5
Ai7)0/100f GooSt-
. stems
