KL EINFFLUER
7 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Between .lune I I and 18. 1999 disposal sites B and C were excavated. Soil and groundwater
samples were collected within the excavations and analyzed for selected analytes listed in
Section 5. On July 14. 1999 three of- six monitoring wells were abandoned in the vicinity of
these two disposal sites. "Three of the wells were not able to be located. The work was
conducted in southeast portion cit'ibe former Spreckels site located in Manteca. California (see
Plate 3). Based upon Kleinfelder-s observations and the reported analytical results Kleinfelder
formulated the following Cunrlusiuns and recommendations:
7.1 CONCLUSIONS
1) Review of the analytical results. of three soil and two groundwater samples analyzed at
Disposal Sites B and C. show that reported levels were either non detect at or above
laboratory reporting limits ill- were below the regulated levels and I'RGs summarized on
Table I under the "Tables Tiibi ol'this report.
2) Verbal authorization was ,ivcn by Robert McColIum of the PHS/EI-ID that backfilling of
Disposal Sites B an([ C be conducted on.luly 16. 1999.
3) The debris material at the two disposal sites(B and C) appeared to be removed.
4) Debris removed from the iwo disposal areas were inoved to constrnCuon debris stockpiles on
site for later disposal or reevclin,.
5) The slaked lime and lime malcrial from Disposal Site B was Mulled to the lime ponds [all the
lime in the lime ponds will he handled in accordance with the Waste Discharge Requirements
(WDRs) # 97-204 for the lime porids.l.
6) Three of six monitoring wells NIW-7. MW-9 and MW-1 I surrounding the Disposal Areas B
and C. were successfully drilled out and grouted to the surface in accordance with the
P1-IS/El-I1) abandonment permit. The remaining three monitoring; wells MW-S, MW-10 and
M` -12 were unable to be Ideated and were likely destroyed during prading activities at the
sitz.
20-±978-11:.W3612019766 llgec 17 ot'20
0 1999.
