•
12 June 2003
AGE-NC Project No 01-0827
I3 4 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in the ground water samples from wells MW-1, MW-6 and VW-2d at
concentrations of 87 pg/l, 950 pg/l and 5,000 lcg/l, TPH-d was detected in samples MW-1,MW-5
and vapor wells VW-1 and VW-2d at a maximum concentration of 3,900 µg/1 (VW-2d)
Various BTEX compounds were detected in samples MW-1,MW-6,VW-1 and VW-2d at maximum
concentrations of 590µg11 benzene, 16 pg/l toluene, 29 µg/1 ethylbenzene and 140 pg/l xylenes, in
sample VW-2d
The fuel additive MTBE was detected in ground water samples MW-1, VW-2d, VW-5d at
I concentrations of 0 93 µg11, 86µg/1 and 4 7 µg/1, respectively In addition, the chlorinated solvent
1,2-DCA was detected in two ground water sample at a maximum concentration of 3 4 pg/l(MW-1)
' The analytical results are summarized in Tables 4 and 5 A copy of the laboratory report(MAI Lab
ID 0304378 and CTEL Project No 214-0304149) and chain-of-custody form are included in
• Appendix D II
4 0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
Based on the data collected from the site, AGE finds
• On 23 and 24 April 2003,ground water was encountered at a depth of approximately 22 feet
btoc Ground water flow was inferred to be towards the northeast under a gradient of
0 005 ft/ft Except for wells VW-1 and VW-3, all site wells are "drowned" and analytical
I data from these wells may not be representative of shallow-water conditions, analytical data
from monitoring well MW-6, screened from 60 to 65 feet bsg, may be representative of
deeper ground water conditions
I • The maximum concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbon and BTEX compounds in ground
water were detected in the ground water sample collected from on-site vapor well VW-2d
' • The concentrations of MTBE and 1,2-DCA in samples VW-1, VW-2d and MW-1 were
above the DHS's Primary Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCL) of 13 pg/l and 0 5 gg/1,
respectively, for these chemicals in drinking water
I
Advanced GeoEnvlronmental,Inc
I
