i
I12 June 2003
AGE-NC Project No 01-0827
IPage 4of7
I2 3 1 Well Monitoring and Evacuation
A Sohnst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in monitoring wells
MW-1 through MW-5 and vapor wells VW-1, VW-2d, VW-3 and VW-5d After water levels were
gauged,a dedicated disposable bailer was used to purge wells MW-1,MW-3,MW-5,VW-1,VW-2d
and VW-5d of a minimum of three casing-water volumes (approximately 3 5 to 16 gallons) of
Iground water Temperature,pH,and conductivity were measured at regular intervals during purging
using an Oakton model water analyzer Purged water from impacted wells was stored on-site in
' 55-gallon drums The field data sheets are included in Appendix B
I2 3 2 Ground Water Sample Collection and Analysis
Water samples were collected from the monitored wells using new disposable bailers after allowing
the wells to achieve a minimum 80% recovery of the pre-purge water volume Each sample was
transferred into three 40-rail EPA-approved volatile organic analysis (VOA) vials and one 1-liter
amber bottle Samples were stored in a chilled container and transported under chain-of-custody to
IMAI, a DHS-certified analytical laboratory Each sample was analyzed for
• TPH-g and total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel(TPH-d)in accordance with EPA Method
8015 Modified,
BTEX compounds and fuel oxygenated compounds -
tertiary butanol (TBA), di-isopropyl
ether(RIPE), ethyl tert butyl ether(ETBE), tert amyl methyl ether(TAME) and MTBE, in
I accordance with EPA Method 8260 Modified, and 1,2-Dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) and
ethylene dibromide (EDB), ethanol and methanol by EPA Method 8260
I
3.0. FINDINGS
From field data collected at the SVE remediation system between January and May 2003, AGE
determined the average TPH-g concentration and the average flow rate Ground water flow direction
and gradient were determined from the field data collected on 23 May 2003,the contaminant impact
to ground water was assessed from the laboratory analysis of the ground water samples
I3 1 SOIL-VAPOR EXTRACTION
The SVE unit was operated continuously during the period between 15 January and 15 May 2003,
except during maintenance, the unit typically operated at between 105 to 129 cubic feet per minute
Advanced GeuBn"mnmental,Inc
I
