' Appendix A • AGE-NC Project No 01-0827 ' Page 3 of 4 ' then backfilled and compacted to surface grade with clean fill sand On 11 and 12 September 2002, approximately 660 metric tons of excavated soil was transported ' from the site and disposed at Forward Landfill ' ANALYTICAL RESULTS FOR SOIL SAMPLES A total of sixteen depth-discrete soil samples from the excavation were analyzed for TPH-d/mo and ' BTEX compounds by EPA Method 8015 Modified and 8021, respectively • The highest concentration of TPH-mo was detected in soil collected from the south wall of ' the excavation (Figure 2) TPH-mo was detected samples SW-10 and SW-15 at a concentration of 510 milligram per kilogram (mg/kg), low to moderated concentrations of TPH-mo was also detected in the other soil samples collected from the south wall of the rexcavation In addition, TPH-mo was detected in the excavation floor sample at a concentration of 320 mg/kg and a low concentration of TPH-mo was detected in sample WW-10 collected from the west wall of the excavation TPH-d was not detected in the soil samples collected G BTEX compounds were detected in four soil sample from the south wall of the excavation r at concentrations as high as 1 0 mg/kg toluene(SW-25) Ethylbenzene and xylenes were also detected at maximum concentrations of 0 21 mg/kg (SW-15) and 0 54 mg/kg (SW-25), respectively • A low concentration of toluene, 0 021 mg/kg, was detected in the excavation floor sample Other BTEX compounds were not detected in the floor sample • Benzene was not detected in the soil samples collected Analytical results of soil samples are summarized on Table A IMASS CALCULATIONS Based on the hydrocarbon concentration of TPH-d/TPH-mo in previous soil boring samples and the average concentrations of TPH-d/TPH-mo in soil from the excavation, an estimated 82 kilograms of diesel and 176 kilograms of motor oil were removed from the site during the soil excavation Iprocedures The mass and volume calculations are presented • Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc i I
