for Additional Groundwater Investigation Report
CSUS Multi-Campus Regional Center
August 19,2003
Page 10
. Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL; 0.5 pg/L) indicates that it is the most important petroleum
s hydrocarbon constituent at the site relative to additional investigation, monitoring, and remediation.
Figure 9 in Attachment A shows the estimated lateral extent of 1,2-DCA in groundwater at concentrations
greater than 100 parts per billion (gg/L). A cross-section showing the estimated extent of 1,2-DCA
contamination at concentrations greater than 100 µg/L is shown in Figure 10, Attachment A. The location
of the cross-section is shown on Figure 9.
Based on the results of the additional groundwater investigation, Condor recommends the installation of
additional monitor wells at the site to investigate and monitor deep groundwater in the source area and
;" shallow and deep groundwater in the down-gradient portion of the site. Condor's previous
recommendation to conduct soil over-excavation and ozone sparging in the source area appears to remain
viable based on the investigation results. The results indicate that a very large percentage of soil and
groundwater contamination can be addressed by the indicated remedial measures. However, Condor does
not recommend that any further work be conducted at the site until the site disposition, relative to soil
over-excavation and the demolition of the site structures, is decided. Any monitor wells that are installed
and the three existing monitor wells will potentially be destroyed during the proposed soil over-
excavation and the anticipated structure demolition activities at the site.
'
6.0 LIMITATIONS
&W Condor developed the interpretations and conclusions resented herein in accordance with
P rP P generally
accepted principles and practice. Conclusions presented in this report are professional opinions based on
limited information obtained at the time of our site visits, Condor has endeavored to determine as much as
practical about the site using conventional practices given our scope of services. Condor makes no
representation as to the subsurface conditions at locations or times other than those sampled by our
employees and reported in this document. If any changes are made or errors found in the information
utilized in this report, the interpretations and conclusions contained herein shall not be considered valid
unless the changes are reviewed by Condor and either appropriately modified or re-approved in writing.
This report was prepared by Condor under the direct supervision of a Registered Geologist in the State of
California.
