All
groundwater samples were analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-G) by
EPA Method 8015m, for benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method
8020, and for gasoline oxygenates/additives by EPA Method 826013. The gasoline oxygenates/additives
included methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), ethanol, tertiary-butanol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE),
ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB or 1,2-
DBA), and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA). Monitor wells MW-1 and MW-3 were also analyzed for total
petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as kerosene, diesel, and motor oil (TPH-K, D, and MO) by EPA
Method 8015m. Following purging of groundwater from monitor well MW-2, the well did not recover
sufficiently (did not contain enough groundwater volume) to collect a sample for TPH-K, D, and MO.
Excelchem Environmental fabs of Roseville, California analyzed the groundwater samples. The
laboratory analytical results for the groundwater samples collected from the monitor wells on August 10,
2004, are presented in Table 3, below, and in Figure 3, attached. Historical groundwater monitoring data
and the laboratory report(certificates of analyses and chain-of-custody record) are also attached.
Table 3 Groundwater Analytical Results (August 10, 2004)
Sample ID 3024-MW1-8/10/04 3024-MW2-8110104 3024-MW3-8110104
Analyte Units-> /L /L /L
Benzene <0.5 <0.5 11
Toluene <0.5 <0.5 <0.5
Ethyl benzene <0.5 0.9 5.0
Total xylenes <1.0 <1.0 3.2
TPH-G <50 110 640
TPH-D 80 NA 490*
TPH-MO <500 NA <500
TPH-K <250 NA <250
MTBE <0.5 <0.5 70
Ethanol <20 <20 <20
Tertiary-butanol <5.0 <5.0 29
Di-isopropyl ether <0.5 <0.5 <0.5
Ethyl tertiary-butyl ether <0.5 <0.5 <0.5
Tert-am 1 methyl ether <0.5 <0.5 1 1.2
1,2-dichloroethane <0.5 2.5 140
1,2-dibromoethane <0.5 1 <0.5 <0.5
•=Sample chromatogram does not match the standard diesel chromatogram. All peaks were integrated within the diesel range.
NA=Not analyzed for this parameter(no sample collected due to insufficient groundwater volume in well).
Unit Conversions, Analytical
pg/L!parts per billion(ppb) TPH-G=total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline.
TPH-K,D,and MO=total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as kerosene, diesel, and motor oil.
MTBE=methyl tertiary-butyl ether
%4'
i4P CONDOR
