• 5.5 Workplan
Prior to initiating any additional site investigation activities,
preparation of a detailed workplan is recommended. The workplan
should describe all proposed sampling efforts as well as proposed
methods and procedures . It is recommended that the workplan be
submitted to the Central Valley Region, Water Quality Control Board
for approval.
5.6 Summary
Site remediation without additional investigation is recommended
for soil contamination under the aircraft washpad. Following
demolition and removal of the washpad, soil remediation by
excavation is recommended. Verification of remediation
effectiveness by collection and analysis of soil samples is
proposed.
Further sub-surface site investigation is recommended for the
clarifier and discharge pit study areas . Definition of contaminant
extent by soil boring and sampling with a powered, hollow--stem
auger is recommended. If soil contamination is followed to
groundwater installation of a monitoring well is proposed.
Survey and collection of additional storm drain sediment samples is
also recommended. Careful analysis will be required to verify if
contaminants encountered originated at the AASF aircraft washpad.
21
