CrIMPENC
3.0 sITE
nvvFsIIGATioly
This section describes the proposed methodology for fiuther evaluating the extent of
Petroleum hydrocarbon Impacted soil and for conducting groundwater monitoring at the site
Included in this section are descriptions of the proposed field methods and procedures,
' laboratory analysis, and storage and disposal of investigation derived wastes
3.1 Soil Evaluation
The following section discusses the methods and procedures that will be used in
fi rther evaluating the condition of the soils surrounding the former USTs
3 1 1 Borehole Location
To assess the extent of the
impacted soil, four boreholes will be dulled at the locations
shown in Figure 4 These borehole locations are based on the results of the previous
investigations and the recommendations of the San Joaquin County PHS/EHD (Appendix A)
fie The soil borings will be drilled using a truck mounted drill rig equipped with hollow stem
augers (HSA) All non-dedicated drilling and sampling equipment will be cleaned according
to Versar's standard decontamination procedures outlm4-m Appendix B Each boring will be
drilled to the groundwater surface at approximately 50 feet bgs Prior to any drilling
activities, Versar will obtain all required permrtg"'It is Versar's understanding that the only
permit required is a borehole drilling permit from San Joaquin County PHS/EHD '
r3 12 Soil Sampling
' To evaluate soil conditions, soil samples will be collected at a maximum of five feet
intervals for laboratory analysis Soil samples will be collected in decontaminated brass tubes
Iplaced inside a split spoon drive sampler The Versar site supervisor will ensure that the
sampler and the brass tubes are thoroughly cleaned prior to collecting each sample Versar's
soil sampling procedures are included in endix B and will be adhered to during the
investigation, any variation from these procedures will be documented in the field notebook
r
f 7
