V %MOO
CHRONOLOGY
RIPON MILLING COMPANY
320 SOUTH STOCKTON AVENUE,RIPON, CA 95366
08/16/94 A 10,000 gallon steel diesel underground storage tank(UST)State ID 53870001,and a
6,000 gallon steel diesel UST State ID 53870002 at the above referenced site were
removed. Strong odor detected. Soil samples beneath the USTs were collected for
laboratory analyses.
08/19/94 1450 cubic yards of contaminated soil to approximately 24 feet below surface grade(bsg)
was over-excavated and stockpiled at the site. Bottom of the excavation at 24'bsg
appeared"clean".
08/28/94 Prop 65 and Unauthorized Release Reports were completed and filed.
09/02/94 The highest concentration of contaminant as reported in the analytical results of the soil
samples taken from the tank excavation at 14'bsg were 5500 parts per million(ppm)of
diesel, 6.8 parts per billion(ppb)of Ethylbenzene, and 37 ppb of Xylenes. Kerosene,
motor oil,and other aromatic hydrocarbons were not-detect.
09/07/94 Official Notification of Reimbursement(NOR)was issued to responsible party(RP)from
San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division(PHS/EHD)
and the site was placed into PHS/EHD Local Oversight Program(LOP). Additional work
to investigate potential impact to groundwater was required.
03/07/95 A monitoring well was installed at the site with screen length from 21`bsg to 41'bsg
08/4/95 Analytical results of the soil samples from 16',21',and 26'bsg were all not-detect above
detection limits in gas, diesel, and aromatic hydrocarbons. 2 ppb of Benzene,Toluene,
and Xylenes were reported in 2 quarters of groundwater monitoring.
10/11/95 PHS/EHD expressed that although low levels of benzene and Xylenes are detected in
groundwater, the background water quality is already polluted with TCE from the Nestle
site. PHS/EHD determined that additional investigation is not warranted. PHS/EHD
recommended the stockpile be characterized and the well be destroyed.
04/09/96 Monitoring well was destroyed by pressure grout.
10/30/97 Received analytical results of 29 soil samples from the stockpile. The highest
concentrations were 257 ppm of diesel,270 ppm of motor oil, 175 ppb of Xylenes and
28 ppb of Ethylbenzene. Gas and other aromatic hydrocarbons were not-detect above
detection limit of I ppm and 3 ppm, respectively.
11/27/96 Ripon Police Department requested using the stockpile for their firing range berm.
03/05/98 Met with representatives of City of Ripon Police Department. Informed them of the
potential liability when assuming ownership of contaminated soil. Recommended they
should check for lead in the stockpile.
02/19/98 Approximately 1450 cubic yards of stockpiled soil was transported from site to City of
Ripon Police Department firing range.
05/11/00 Received Record Title Owner Notification Certification letter.
08/21/00 PHS/EHD recommended this site for closure.
