PHS/EHD has the following comments for your consideration.
The Revised Proposal included the hand augering of two soil borings to investigate the horizontal and vertical
extent of the residual soil contamination which was evidenced during the 1989 over excavation. One soil boring
will be placed north of the former tank located and will be sampled at 12.5, 15, and 17.5 feet below ground
surface (bgs) to investigate the horizontal extent of contamination and one soil boring will be placed in the area
of the former tank and will be sampled at 15 and 17.5 feet below ground surface to investigate the vertical extent
of contamination. The information which is obtained from soil samples collected and analyzed for BTEX and
TPH-gas/motor oil should be sufficient to estimate the extent of the soil contamination and hence the potential
threat to groundwater quality.
Please submit a permit application, S89 permit fee, and a health and safety plan. Field work may commence
upon issuance of a drilling permit.
If you have any questions, comments or to schedule a site inspection, please contact me at (209) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
LAS
VVV /J1
Mary Meays, Senior REHSDiane M.
