(BBL) ADDENDUM NEEDED BY: 9/1/06
CONMfENTS AND CONDITIONS:
The following scope of work was proposed by BBL to obtain additional data necessary to prepare a feasibility study:
1. Complete their file review of this and a nearby contaminated UST site (Unocal,437 Nfinor Ave.).
2. Have all existing monitoring wells surveyed to an established benchmark for elevation.
3. Conduct a geophysical survey to locate four 550-gallon UST reportedly abandoned in place on site.
4. Install two soil borings and one shallow groundwater monitoring well to delineate the lateral extent of soil and
groundwater contamination near MW-1.
5. Re-initiate quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling, and coordinate the events with the Unocal site.
Please provide an addendum to the Work Plan to clarify the following:
1. Justification for a shallow soil boring located north/northwest of MW-1. Analytical data exists from both soil
and ground water samples from monitoring well U-7,which belongs to the Unocal site, and is located the same
direction from MW-1 as the proposed boring.
2. The vertical delineation of soil contamination near MW-1. The Work Plan states vertical delineation was
completed with soil samples collected from CPT-1. However, the deepest soil sample collected from CPT-1
was from 78 feet below surface grade, and was reported to contain 4,800 milligrams per kilogram(mg/kg)TPH
as diesel,58 mg/kg toluene,67 mg/kg ethylbenzene and 350 mg/kg xylenes.
Lori Duncan,Senior REHS Nuel C.Henderson,Jr.,PG
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IN' LOP/Site Mitigation Unit IV
cc: James Barton,CVRWQCB
David Lay,BBL
