APPENDIX A <br /> Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan <br /> Historical Background <br /> SUTTER OFFICE CENTER <br /> SITE LOCATION <br /> The site is located in a commercial area of low topographic relief in central Stockton, California <br /> There is one multistory building (242 North Sutter Street) occupied by multiple businesses on the <br /> western portion of the site, the remaining portion consists of paved parking <br /> Based on review of the Lines of Equal Depth to Groundwater Sprang 1999 map published by the San <br /> Joaquin County Flood Control District and Water Conservation Distnct(FCD&WCD),the estimated <br /> depth to ground water at the site is 30 feet bsg Review of the map Lines of Equal Elevation of <br /> Groundwater Spring 1998(FCD&WCD) depicts the regional ground water flow direction towards <br /> the northwest and west Review of previous ground water monitoring at the site and historical depth <br /> to ground water maps(FCD&WCD)dating back to 1971 suggests that ground water depth near the <br /> site has fluctuated between 50 feet bsg and 60 feet bsg <br /> UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL <br /> An unnamed service station operated at the site from the 1940's until the 1960's Reportedly four <br /> underground storage tanks (USTs)were filled with sand and abandoned in place in the late 1960's <br /> A Standard Oil Service Station operated at the site from the late 1960s until 1980 Subsequently,the <br /> USTs associated with this fuel system were removed, the location of the former USTs during this <br /> period is uncertain, but is believed to be at the northeast corner of the site <br /> A site historical review of City of Stockton street directory records, San Joaquin County Assessors <br /> Office indicated that a Chevron gasoline service and filling station operated at the site under the <br /> assumed address of 448 East Miner Avenue(242 North Sutter Street) from 1935 until 1941, then a <br /> cab car service operated at the same assumed address of 448 East Miner Avenue from 1942 until <br /> 1958 In 1967 a Standard Service Station operated at the site under the assumed address of 434 East <br /> Miner Avenue, from 1967 until 1980 The property was also occupied by the Continental American <br /> Bus Lines depot from 1950 until the late 1960's The operation of four, five-hundred gallon gasoline <br /> and/or fuel USTs ended in 1960, at which time the USTs were reportedly closed in place The <br /> Chevron dispenser for this tank set was located at the most northeast corner of the site <br /> Neither UST decommissioning was verified with soil sample collection <br /> Advanced GeoEnvironmental <br />
