Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Re: Chevron Station #9-8632
575 West Grant Line Road(intersection of Grant Line and Tracy Blvd.),Tracy, CA
Dear Mr. Knoll:
This letter is in response to your letter to me dated September 12, 1991 regarding the site
referenced above. As we discussed on the telephone on November 5, 1991, I do not feel that the
groundwater information which I have reviewed compels me to initiate an investigation at the
Chevron site.
While it is true that groundwater samples from well MW-8, which is located on the sidewalk along !
the western boundary of the Chevron site, contain dissolved volatile hydrocarbons, it is also
apparent that this well is located in a direction which is somewhat downgradient from the former
Mobil branded station at 2375 Tracy Blvd. which has documented a release and has commenced
investigative measures. Well MW-8 is also located in a direction which is directly downgradient of {
an Exxon branded station at this intersection. I would like to point out that the groundwater
information which I have reviewed (Alton Geoscience report for Mobil Oil dated December 17,
1990)indicates that the location of MW-8 is cross-gradient from the Chevron site.
The purpose of this letter is not to "point fingers" at other parties in the vicinity, but merely to I
explain why I do not feel at this time that an investigation b Chevron is justified
 P Y ga y based upon the
circumstances described above.
! If you have any questions or comments, you may contact me at(510) 842-8658,
Sincerely, i
fi
Clint B.
