PROPOSAL FOR REMEDIATION SERVICES
..■ MOBIL SERVICE STATION #10-NP4
TRACY, CALIFORNIA
1
located east and northeast of the site, range from 0. 3
ppm to 3 ppm. Benzene concentrations in these wells
range from 0. 003 ppm to 0. 14 ppm.
Regulatory Considerations
o Benzene concentrations reported in October 1988 exceed
the California Department of Health Services (DHS)
Drinking Water Action Level of 0.0007 ppm in three of the
wells on--site and in two of the wells off-site. Toluene
and xylenes concentrations reported in well MW-3 in
October 1988 also exceed Drinking Water Action Levels.
Groundwater cleanup is typically required with site
contamination concentrations exceeding these action
levels; j
o Cleanup levels should be negotiated with the San Joaquin
County Local Health District (LHD) following preliminary
data gathering activities at the site. The LHD may
submit material to the RWQCB for review and approval
prior to agreeing to the proposed cleanup levels;
o LHD requires submittal of a remediation proposal prior to 1
issuing well and exploratory boring permits necessary to
initiate field investigations at the site; and
o LHD requires submittal of a Remediation Work Plan prior
to installation and. start-up of a site remediation
system. LHD may submit this plan to RWQCB for review and
approval prior to issuing permits necessary to start
cleanup at the site.
Other permitting and regulatory issues are discussed in detail
below.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
i
This project will be composed of several tasks which are
described below. The schedule and costs for accomplishing the
work are presented in subsequent sections of this proposal.
Task 1 - Additional Information and Pre aration of Site
Remediation Work Plan
In order to finalize the design of the treatment system and
prepare a site remediation work plan, the following site
characterization information will need to be assessed.
I
-3-
