approximately one-an -a-third liters of groundwater; and ozone-enriched air will be delivered
into the soil/groundwa r samples at a rate not to exceed one hundred milliliters per minute.
AGE proposes the study will operate for five days during which time daily aliquots of twenty
milliliters of each sample set will be analyzed for hexavalent chromium, ozone, and pH.
To establish baseline/background values, AGE proposes to analyze one set of soil samples
composited from twenty, twenty-five, and thirty feet bsg; one set of soil samples composited
from fifty, fifty-five, sixty, and sixty-five feet bsg; groundwater collected from MW-1; and
groundwater collected from MW-10 for the following constituents:
• Total petrolem hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g); benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX); methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), ethyl
tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), tertiary-amyl methyl ether
(TAME), tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA), and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA);
• Aluminum, antimony, (total) arsenic, barium, beryllium, bromine, calcium, (total)
cadmium, (total) chromium, cobalt, copper, (total) iron, (total) lead, magnesium,
(total) manganese, mercury, molybdenum, potassium, nickel, silver, sodium, (total)
selenium, thall um, tungsten, vanadium, and zinc;
• Hexavalent chromium;
• Acetate, bromide, bromate, nitrogen, nitrite, nitrate, sulfate, sulfide, orthophosphate,
chloride, and fluoride;
• Conductivity, pH, chemical oxygen demand (COD), and ammonia; and
• For groundwat r only: oxidation-reduction potential, alkalinity, total dissolved solids,
(dissolved) iro , (dissolved) manganese, and (dissolved) arsenic.
In addition to the analys s listed above, please include the analyses for total oxygen demand
and total organic carbon
Following the five-day st idy, AGE proposes that each of the two soil/groundwater sample sets
will be analyzed for the same constituents listed above. During this time, the two sample sets
will be held for two weeps pending the need for additional analyses based on the results from
this investigation.
The EHD approves the work plan as submitted with the addition of the two analyses. Submit
a boring permit application and permit/inspection fee of $434 to the EHD and notify the EHD
of pending fieldwork at least a week prior to the scheduled work.
Following the ozone be ch-scale study, in addition to submitting the report of findings to the
EHD by June 30, 2010, submit the results to the Central Valley Regional Water Quality
Control Board for theii evaluation to necessitate the issuance of a waste discharge
requirement (WDR) perrrjit.
