CALIFORNIA WATER U
Y QUALITY ASSURANCEMUALn-MONTROL
MANAGEMENT SUMMARY
(Contlnued)
Confirmations
During organic analysis, all positive compounds without an established baseline
are confirmed by a secondary GC column or by GC/MS (accepting those compounds
quantitated by pattern recognition. i.e.. PCBs and gasoline.)
Heid QC Samples
Travel blanks and pump/bailer blanks are analyzed only if the associated samples
contain analytes of interest or if results e,cceed historical baseline data.
DATA QUALITY ASSESSMENT AND REPORTING
if all data fall within acceptable QC criteria, all calculations have been verified for
accuracy, and all instrumental calibration data are within acceptable range, the data
are passed as valid. In the event QC does not meet criteria, an immediate review of
all raw data is conducted to determine the source of the discrepancy. If calculations
are correct and instrument data (i.e.. calibration standard response, etc.) are
w acceptable. the results are reviewed to evaluate the potential chemical interferences.
if it is determined that interferences are present, a revised or alternate method of
analysis may be selected and the samples rerun. If it is determined that there is no
other apparent reason for the QC data discrepancy, the samples must be reprepared
and reanalyzed.
All results are reviewed by a supervising chemist prior to final report preparation.
and all Snal reports are reviewed and authorized by a lab director.
The client must specify the level Iof QA/QC reporting required in the results of
analysis prior to beginning the analysis. USEPA Contract Lab Program equivalent
data packages can be arranged through the laboratory Quality Assurance Manager.
For Further Information Contact:
Ms. Gloria Poling
Manager Quality Assurance
Cafifornla Water Labs
Post Office Box 4249
Modesto, CA 95352
(209) 527-40.50
b
