PHS/EHD has the following comments for
your consideration.
PHS/EHD requested in correspondence dated'June,11, 1992 that an estimate of residual contamination
associated with the former tank #3 be submitted by August 14, 1992. The requested information has not
been submitted. Please include an estimate of contamination associated with.the former tank #3 within
the next quarterly report due February 15, 1993 for quarterly monitoring performed on December 23,
1992.
PHS/EHD requested in correspondence dated August 23, 1992 that oil and grease analysis also be
performed on groundwater samples collected. However, analytical results included within the recently
submitted quarterly report, indicated that only oil and grease and BTEX analysis was performed.
PHS/EHD recommends that the following analysis be performed: Oil and Grease, BTEX, and TPH-d.
Also note that laboratory QA/QC data sheets should be included within quarterly reports.
PHS/EHD approved conditionally in correspondence dated October 7, 1992 the work plan to re-excavate
soil contamination associated with the former tank #4 and to install two additional monitoring wells
necessary to determine groundwater gradient and to investigate the extent of groundwater contamination.
Scheduling of this work has not yet occurred neither.has a response to PHS/EHD comments been
submitted. Please submit a response to PHS/EHD comments on the work plan by February 15, 1993.
If you have any questions or comments; please contact Mary Meays, REHS,of my staff at (209) 468-0337.
Jogi Khanna, M.DP.H.
Health Office
_ r
urie A.
