1%00 %ale
SECTION 5
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
All ICF staff working onsite have completed training in hazard recognition and basic health and safety
issues as required by the occupational safety and health regulations contained in 29 CFR 1910.120 (e)
and 8 CCR 5192. ICF employees are also trained and receive annual training in CPR/First-aid (every
3 years), Hazard Communication in Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) and ICF's Injury and Illness
Prevention Program (IIPP). In addition, each employee will be familiar with the requirements of this
site safety and health plan, and will participate in site activity and safety briefings. There are not any
project-specific training requirements anticipated at this time. The SSO will document all site safety
activity and implementation of this plan. Table 5-1 lists the training and compliance status of field
personnel working on this project.
Bloodborne Pathoizens
TCF personnel trained in CPR and first-aid have the potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens
therefore they are trained annually in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.1030 and 8 CCR 5193.
Exposure to bloodborne pathogens is prevented through the use of universal precautions, engineering
and work practice controls, and personal protective equipment. Each ICF work area shall be
equipped with an industrial first-aid kit supplemented by a bloodborne pathogen exposure control kit.
Personnel will follow appropriate decontamination and disposal procedures in the event of a potential
exposure to bodily fluids potentially infected with bloodborne pathogens. All incidents must be
immediately reported to the SSO and corporate health and safety director.
Injury and Illness Prevention_Program
ICF has a Injury Illness Prevention Program as part of our Health and Safety Program. ICF
personnel are trained annually as required by 8 CCR 3203. The training is conducted in an effort to
reduce the frequency and severity of work-related accidents/incidents, injuries and illnesses; provide
uniform health and safety guidance for personnel and comply with all federal, state and local health
regulations that affect ICF activities.
Hazard Communication
ICF trains employees in accordance with the Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910. 120
and 8 CCR 5194) in the law, material safety data sheets (MSDSs) and labeling requirements. As part
of the hazard communication standard, ICF is required to provide MSDSs of chemicals brought to the
Site and have them readily accessible to ICF personnel as well as to Site representatives. Some
MSDSs that ICF would potentially bring onsite include the following:
- Calibration gases (methane, hydrogen, isobutylene)
- Fit-test chemicals isoamylacetate (banana oil) stannous chloride (smoke tubes)
- Alconox or other decontamination soap
- Laboratory reagents or preservatives (HCl)
5-1
