Relatively undisturbed soil samples will
be taken at intervals of not more than five feet (5') in order to evaluate the
subsurface materials; however, this sampling interval may be waived in saturated
sands in which sample recovery is not possible. During the use of a rotary rig,
samples will not be taken through the gravel zone but will resume at rive foot (5')
intervals when a hollow stern flight auger drilling rig can be used.
The soil samples will be taken using a California Modified Split Spoon sampler
with brass liners. The samp)er will be driven continuously by a wire-line hammer.
