— WHFEnvironmenfal'mnsulfan s, Inc.. `OW
Sampling Protocols
Page: 4
contaminated, as best known or estimated.. The samples will be pumped from a
stainless steel bladder pump or carefully poured .from a disposable. bailer into clean
glass vials with Teflon-lined screw caps and half gallon plastic containers provided
by the laboratory.. Care will be taker to ensure that no air space exists in the vials
by inverting to check for bubbles and re-sampling;, if necessary.
The groundwater samples will be analyzed or extracted within 14 days according to
their EPA methods. Water samples collected for analysis were analyzed for EPA
method 602 for BTX&E compounds, EPA Method 5030/LUFT for gasoline and
EPA Method TEPH/LUFT for total exiractablL petroleum hydrocarbons-gasoline.
Analysis will be conducted by GeoMonitor.. Inc., in Hesperia, California.
Excavation Sampling
All soil sampling equipment will be thoroughly clewed with TSP (tr:sodium
phosphate) before and between sampling to prevent cross contamination. Soil
sampling in the excavation will be taken with, brass tubes, driven into the sidewalls
— and the bottom of the excavation. The number of samples will be deterrind ed by
the size of the excavation.
The soil samples will not have head space and will be immediately sealed in their
liners using aluminum foil-lined plastic caps. These samples will also be sent to
GeoMonitor, Inc. in Hesperia, California.
The soil samples will be analyzed using EPA Method TEPH-LUFT for total
extractable petroleum hydrocarbons, EPA Method 8020 for benzene, toluene, ethyl
benzene, and xylenes, and EPA Method 5520 D for Oil & Grease.
