WHF Environmental Consultants,Inc.
Sampling Protocol
A .
Drilling
r
Permits were obtained for the boring and monitoring well before the drilling
began. The soil borings were accomplished using a mobile mounted drilling rig
4{ employing the use of a hollow stem flight auger no less than 3 1/4-inch i.d. and
8 7/8 o.d.
f
All drilling equipment was thoroughly steam-cleaned before drilling began to
prevent the introduction of contamination from off site and between borings to
pmvent cross contamination.
i
g ' The borings were logged (Appendix A) under the direct supervision of a
registered engineering geologist using the Unified Soil Classification System.
The color, texture, moisture, plasticity(if applicable), consistency of the earth
materials, pertinent soil or bedrock characteristics, and any evidence of
contamination was noted. All water-bearing zones and the depths at which they
were encountered were noted onthese logs.
All borings were drilled in such a manner as to prevent cross contamination
r
between strata. Exploratory soil borings within the unsaturated zone were
backfilled with a 5% bentonite and cement grout with a bentonite plug at the
base.
E.3
The cuttings from the drilling operation were contained on-sits during drilling
for proper disposition. The proper method of disposal is dependent upon results
of laboratory analysis. This disposal will be the responsibility of the client
unless other arrangements have been made.
Well Consmcrion
All materials used in well construction were thoroughly cleaned prior to
introduction into the boring. A two inch diameter well casing (PVC) with end
cap and factory perforations for placement in the saturated zone(taking into
account.seasonal_variadon).-was placed in-the boring.---The-screen and filter pack---------- - ----— —
sizes areas noted in the well construction drawing. The casing and end caps
were threaded and no PVC cement was used..The filter pack extends two feet
above the wet, ra hig,perforat-ons A bents '" 2 o r__. mac_,_
.Tn l4 G-to J"1GGC tllllili was
ivy
I
