The metal drained used oil filters will have to be stored in a closed container and labeled as
"Drained Used Oil Filters" and have an accumulation start date once the first filter is
accumulated. These will not count towards your generator status, but records do need to be
kept. The container should be kept closed at all times except when adding or removing
waste.
The paper used oil filters will also have to be closed in a closed container and labeled as
Hazardous Waste (labeling info attached). The accumulation start date will need to be
written once you have a combined weight of 220 pounds of total hazardous waste on site.
(We can convert the oil to pounds. One gallon of oil is equivalent to 7 pounds.) The
container should be kept closed at all times except when adding or removing waste.
How is the container labeled? Is the container closed?
Thank you,
Claudia Muro, EHS
Environmental Health Specialist
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 E. Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
cmuro@sbgov.orq
tel: (209) 468-3429, fax: (209) 468-3433
