BOILS ENGINEERING , INC .
UST Assessment Workplan SEI File No. 20-19515
Shell Oil Distribution Plant January 23, 2020
Stockton California Page 2
labeled and placed in iced storage. The soil samples will be field screened with a photoionization
detector for relative hydrocarbon content and described by soil type and hydrocarbon staining.
• The soil borings will be grouted with neat cement (cement and bentonite mix) from the base of the
boring to the surface.
• If hydrocarbon stained soil is evolved from the borings it will be containerized in 55-gallon drums
and labeled as contamined soil. Characterization of this soil will be conducted and once excepted
the drums will be disposed of at a State permited facility as non-hazardous or Non-RCRA hazardous
waste, If determined to be a California hazardous waste an EPA ID No , will be acquired for the
generator if they do not already have one.
• If groundwater is encountered in the borings a groundwater sample will be collected with a
disposable bailer and decanted into a 14iter amber bottle with presevative and three (3) 40-m1
VOAs. The containers will be labeled and placed into a cooler with ice.
Laboratory Analysis
• The soil samples (4) will be delivered to a State certified analytical laboratory along with a
completed Chain-of-Custody for analysis of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline and
diesel by EPA Method 8015 , for Volatile Organics Compounds by EPA Method 8260, and for lead
by EPA Method 6010. Table 1 shows the proposed analytical methods and the low detection limits
for each constituent.
• If groundwater samples are collected the sample(s) will be analyzed for TPH as gasoline and diesel
by EPA Method 8015 and for VOCs by EPA Method 8260 ,
Reporting
Once the analytical results are received a UST Assessment Report will be prepared discussing the field work
conducted, the analytical results, plot plan of the boring locations and conclusions and recommendations for
the site.
If you have any questions co thi Workplan please contact SEI at (661) 831 -5100.
. y9
Rr,jiy
Sin rel
eFa o
* m5
o-,9 D c>
9
obert , Becker, R.G. , .
Enviro ental Division M
02020 SOILS ENGINEERING, INC.
4400 YEAGER WAY Phone: 881 831 5100 InfoftDsollseng neering.com
BAKERSFIELD, CA9331 &2019 Fax: 5518312111 www.solisengineering.com
