collected 10 feet bgs in boring B-1. Diesel was detected in the 10, 15, and 20 feet bgs samples
of boring B-1 ranging from 350 to 610 mg/kg Toluene was detected in the 25- and 35-foot
samples collected in boring B-1 at concentrations of 5 5 and 80 pg/kg, respectively. Toluene
was detected in soil samples of boring MW-1 from 30 to 55 feet bgs ranging in concentration
' from 16 to 130 pg/kg.
' Based on the analytical results of the soil samples collected from boring B-1, soil
remediation was undertaken in the vicinity of former Tank #4. In April of 1992, WHF
' Consultants excavated a rectangular area of approximately 1500 square feet to a depth of
approximately 35 feet bgs Approximately 1,200 cubic yards of affected soil was removed from
' the site excavation and remediated off-site at 1320 West Weber Street, Stockton. The
excavation was terminated to the west by the Union Pacific Rail Line Right of Way, and to
the north and east by the existing ice manufacturing building. Thirteen soil samples were
' collected from the floor and wails of the excavation as shown an Figure A-2, Appendix A.
The samples were analyzed for oil and grease, TPH-E, and BTEX. The floor sample
' collected at 27 feet was not analyzed for TPH-E but was analyzed for BTEX and TPG-G.
Analytical results and field observations identified residual fingers of affected soil remaining in
the sidewalls of the excavation (Figures A-3, and A-4, Appendix A)
' Groundwater samples were collected from MW-1 in June 1992, September 1992, and
December 1992 and were analyzed for BTEX, TPH-G, and TPH-E. Motor oil (16.2 mg/l)
was detected in the June 1992 sampling None of the compounds analyzed for were detected
in the September or December, 1992 sampling
' In June of 1993 WHF Environmental Consultants installed three additional
' groundwater monitoring wells (MW-2 through MW-4, Figure 2). The wells were drilled to
depths of 80 feet bgs, and groundwater was encountered at approximately 65 feet bgs in each
' well. Soil samples were collected at approximate 5-foot intervals beginning at different
starting depths in each of the wells The soil samples were submitted to a laboratory for
' analysis of extractable petroleum hydrocarbons, and purgeable aromatics. None of the
compounds analyzed for were detected in the samples collected.
The groundwater depth measurements and sampling of all monitoring wells was
performed by WHF consultants on July 7, 1993, October 7, 1993, and again on December 30,
tvuo4 c 3
1
