Before receiving a PHS/EHD corrective action directive and in order to receive <br /> the SWRCB Clean up Fund Letter of Committment, you must make application to <br /> the State of California Water Resources Control Board's (SWRCB) "Petroleum <br /> Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund" (Fund) . An application package ifor the <br /> Fund has been."iprovided. <br /> The Fund was created pursuant to Chapter 6.75 of. the California Health and <br /> Safety Code to help eligible owners and operators of petroleum underground <br /> storage tanks'to: <br /> 1. Meet federal requirements to demonstrate financial responsibility; <br /> 2. Obtain reimbursement for costs -of the cleanup of unauthorized <br /> releases of petroleum from USTs; .and <br /> 3. Obtain reimbursement for damages awarded to third parties who are <br /> injured by petroleum releases. <br /> The maximum account available from the Fund is $990,000 per occurrence. <br /> Claimants are responsible for the first $10,000 of eligible costs. <br /> Applicationsmust be submitted to the SWRC8 clean Up Fund by Karch 31, ;1994 to <br /> undergo eligibility ranking for funding in the 1994-95 state fiscal budget <br /> year. All subsurface investigations and remedial actions must be performed <br /> under a workplan approved by PHS/EHD. <br /> The Fund does ,not cover the coats incurred for the removal, repair, retrofit, <br /> or installation of USTs.
