INFORMATION SHEET
CITY OF RIPON
INDUSTRIAL AND DOMESTIC
WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
The City of Ripon operates a wastewater facility south of the
City and north of the Stanislaus River. The facility receives
domestic wastewater from a population of 4,800 and industrial
wastewater from the Nestle and Nulaid Egg plants. The City is
proposing to increase the domestic flow from 0. 332 mgd to 0.499
mgd by construction of additional evaporation/percolation ponds .
The City also proposes to use industrial wastewater, currently
being discharged to infiltration beds , for surface irrigation of
18.6 acres of new pasture owned by the City.
The City has not discharged to the Stanislaus River since June
1975 and does not have future plans to do so; consequently, the
Discharger requests rescission of the NPDES permit.
Soils of the area are basically derived from alluvial deposits of
the Stanislaus River and are generally silty sand and sandy silt.
Depth to ground water adjusts to the level of the water in the
Stanislaus River varying from 5-1/2 ' to 7-1/2 ' during winter and
from 14 ' -19 ' during summer. Annual precipitation is estimated to
be 14-1/2 inches (37 cm) .
The City has adopted a Negative Declaration and compliance with
the waste discharge requirements will mitigate or avoid the
significant impacts on water quality.
6/5/85:PSI:jec
