Section 3 • • Surveying and Sampling
• Sample location
3.5.4 SAMPLE SHIPMENT AND CHAIN OF CUSTODY
All samples collected for analytical testing will be delivered to an approved analytical laboratory
within 48 hours of collection, or within method holding time, which ever is shortest. During
sample shipment, samples will be kept on ice or synthetic substitute (e.g. "blue ice") in an
insulated container at a maximum temperature of 4°C.
A chain of custody record, which documents possession of samples from time of collection to
laboratory analysis, will be maintained. Each person who has possession of the samples will
complete applicable sections of the form when samples are received or relinquished and when
sample possession is transferred.
The chain of custody form will be sent in the shipping container along with the samples. The
sample collector will have the receiving personnel of the laboratory sign the chain of custody
form to complete documentation of sample possession from time of collection to delivery to the
laboratory. The laboratory will provide a photocopy of this form for the sample collector's
records.
3.6 SCHEDULE
Installation of the monitoring wells are contingent upon written Regional Water Board approval
of this Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation Workplan and schedules of well drilling
contractors. The following schedule provides a reasonable timeline for completion of
monitoring well installation and related activities. A well survey and initial water samples will
be collected soon after completion of the wells and as part of the next regularly scheduled quarter
groundwater monitoring event.
Table 3-2
Tentative Schedule of Well Completion (2007)
Task Initiation Date Completion Date
Regional Board Approval of Workplan April 30 May 31
Selection of a Drilling Contractor June 1 June 30
Install Monitoring Wells July 1 July 30
Monitoring Well Survey August 1 August 30
Monitoring Well Installation Report November 30
ApHI 2007 City of Ripon Wastewater Treatment Facility
3-5 Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation Workplan
