■VZ1 INC
gasoline (SB-1-16 5) was analyzed for methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) using USEPA
Test Method 8020 with confirmation provided by USEPA Test Method 8240
Soil sample analytical results indicated that approximately 2,000 to 3,000 cubic yards of
soil were impacted by the gasoline fuel from Tank #1 from immediately under the tank
bottom at approximately 14 feet below ground surface to a maximum depth of
approximately 46 5 feet below ground surface Maximum soil hydrocarbon contamination
concentrations from samples collected immediately under the Tank #1 location were
reported as follows total petroleum hydrocarbon as gasoline (9,500 mg/kg), benzene (16 6
mg/kg), toluene (559 mg/kg), ethyl benzene (159 mg/kg), and xylene (943 mg/kg) MBTE
concentrations in the single soil sample analyzed were reported to be below analytical
laboratory detection limits
Four groundwater water supply wells were located on the property Two of these wells
were used for agriculture irrigation of the grape vineyards The other two wells were used
as domestic water supply wells Because the City of Lodi had annexed the property, any
future water supply will be provided by the city via pipeline service As a consequence,
the four wells will be abandoned A permit to abandon the four wells was submitted to
PHSEHD for approval One agricultural well, identified as the cistern well, was abandoned
during August, 1996 prior to the initiation of exploratory excavation and soil boring
operations The pumps were pulled in the other wells and are currently awaiting
abandonment The abandonment will be completed as part of a separate report to
PHSEHD
The domestic water well located in the former main yard area was sounded for water depth
and a single water sample was collected The static water depth from this well was found
to be 76 5 feet below ground surface The water sample was analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline using USEPA Test Method 8015 (modified) and benzene,
toluene, ethyl benzene, and xylene fuel components using USEPA Test Method 524 In
08220010 011 3
