Mr. G. Doug Dutton -2- 6 December 1991
monitoring system is adequate to monitor the effectiveness of the cleanup activity
and whether the lateral and vertical containment of the chloroform plume has been
achieved. Otherwise, we request that plans for a revised monitoring program be
submitted to this office by 1 April 1992.
Once the ground water cleanup activity is stopped, a proof period is necessary to
document the adequacy of the cleanup. Section 2550.10 of Chapter 15 requires a
minimum proof period of one year with eight sampling events per year. For this
site, a proof period of three years may be more appropriate to allow for ground water
recovery after the drought (assuming it rains here again). No more than four
samples per year would be needed during the proof period.
Ifyouhave any question, please call Steve Rosenbaum at (916) 361-5732.
'In/z,
WILLIA .
