Valpico Road, Tracy, California
Dear Mr. Djuth,
On behalf of Georgia-Pacific, LLC (G-P), in compliance with the California Regional Water
Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (RWQCB) letter dated April 26, 2011, Acton •
Mickelson • Environmental, Inc. (AME) has prepared this Work Plan for Well Destruction
(Work Plan) for the former Tracy Chemical Packaging Plant located at 75 W. Valpico Road,
Tracy, California (site; Figures 1 and 2). The drilling activities described herein are part of well
destruction activities that will be conducted at the site in general accordance with San Joaquin
County Environmental Health Department (San Joaquin County) requirements. Soil and ground
water at the site had been impacted by chloroform from past operations; however, the RWQCB
has found that no further action will be required after the 33 existing site wells have been
destroyed.
OBJECTIVES
The objective of the work described herein is to destroy 21 ground water monitoring wells by
pressure grouting, and 12 ozone sparging wells by over-drilling.
SCOPE OF WORK
The proposed work consists of pressure grouting 21 monitoring wells (ranging in diameter from
2 to 8 inches and extending from 28.5 to 82.0 feet below ground surface [bgs]) using Type I/II
cement grout tremmied into the well. The monitoring wells are completed with standpipes and
flush mounts, which will be removed along with annular and native material to a depth of 3 feet
bgs at a diameter of 12 inches larger than the original boring of the destroyed well. The casing
will be cut at a depth of 2.5 feet bgs or greater and removed from the boring. The boring will be
filled with cement grout to a depth of 2 feet bgs, and a pressure of 25 pounds per square inch will
©2011. Georgia-Pacific LLC.
