Also, approximately 200-feet due west of
PDW-1(S)we advanced to 20 feet before I realized we may not be in the right position for the borehole,
so it was grouted to surface and abandoned. The hole was re-started 200 feet east, as PDW-1(S). I
attached a map that shows the location of the wells and abandoned borehole (sorry about that). Here
are the spec's:
20-foot boring -
Terminated at 20-feet. Grouted to surface using 6 bags of Type 1/11 Portland cement.
WC-3 -
Total boring depth = 44.5 feet
Screen - 0.010" SCH 40, from 28-43'
Sand -#2/12 Clean Sand, from 26-44.5' (6 X 100 lbs bags)
Transition Seal - 3/8" Bentonite chips, from 24-26' (1 - 50 Ib bag)
Grout- 8 bags of 94 Ib Type 1/II Portland Cement
7.5 gallons water used for hydration of transition seal, allowed 35 minutes of hydration time.
PDW-1(S)
Total boring depth = 52 feet
Backfill - 1/4" bentonite pellets, TR30 (14 buckets)
Screen - 0.010" SCH 40, from 8-23
Sand -#2/12 Clean Sand, from 7-24' (6 X 100 lbs bags)
Transition Seal - 3/8" Bentonite chips, from 6-7' (1 - 50 Ib bag)
Grout - 3 bags of 94 Ib Type 1/11 Portland Cement
As for future drilling, we are done for this week, but Frank might be back out on Monday to start the
PDW-1 (shooting for deep GW) with mud rotary. The well above, PDW-1(S) is installed in a shallow
zone that is not the original target zone, but everybody agreed that they would like a well in first
encountered GW in addition to the deeper zone. I will keep you posted, but even if Frank does come
out Monday, it will be at least a few days before he's ready to grout a conductor casing.
Thanks, give me a call or shoot me an email if you have any questions.
Dennis
6/18/2008
