The
workplan describes plans to install six pan lysimeters and four groundwater monitoring wells. However,
only one of the four wells is proposed for immediate installation; no schedule is presented for the
remaining wells. The workplan was prepared in response to Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRs)
Order No. R5-2002-0148, Provision G.2.b.
Musco Family Olive Company shall submit an addendum to the workplan that addresses the following
comments:
• The scope of work in Section 3 includes an incomplete quote of the requirements in WDRs
Provision G.2.b and the work described in the workplan does not fully address the requirements of
Provision G.2.b.
• The workplan fails to present the locations of the groundwater monitoring wells to be installed
upgradient and downgradient of the 84-Mgal storage pond. On 22 October 2002, staff provided
conditional approval of a 26 September 2002 Kleinfelder workplan to install the wells. Please revise
the workplan plates to accurately present the location of all proposed and existing monitoring
locations.
• Section 2.4 of the workplan discusses soil borings previously drilled at the facility but does not
provide the soil boring locations on the plates. Please include a plate that shows all the soil borings
that are described in the workplan.
• The workplan does not include a schedule for replacement of the wells that have gone dry after
installation. Please provide a schedule for the replacement of the wells or a discussion as to why
replacement wells are not needed.
• The workplan does not include a schedule for installation of the three wells that will be drilled near
Wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-6. Please provide a schedule for the well installations.
California Environmental Protection Agency
ra Recycled Paper
The energy challenge facing California is real. Every Californian needs to take immediate action to reduce energy consumption.
For a list of simple ways you can reduce demand and cut your energy costs, see our Web-site at http://www.swrcb.ca.gov/mgcb5
