Mr. Ben Hall -2 - 18 July 2003
Musco Family Olive Company
review of the progress of Musco, which is tentatively scheduled for the October meeting. Provided the
Regional•$.oard is satisfied with progress on this issue, a formal amendment will be considered to extend
the deadline to 15 August 2004 for the submittal of the LTU Assimilative Capacity Report required by
Provision G.2.f of the WDRs. To assure Regional Board staff concurrence with the assimilative capacity
study's scope of work, we request Musco submit by 15 August 2003 a technical report that thoroughly
describes the components of the assimilative capacity study (e.g., proposed soil sampling protocol;
model development, calibration, and application; performance criteria, etc.) and includes an
implementation schedule that identifies key milestones to produce a complete and acceptable report of
results by 15 August 2004.
To expedite work on collecting percolate quality data, we recommend Musco install suction lysimeters
at the earliest possible opportunity in locations identified as most suitable by data from recently installed
soil moisture probes. This additional monitoring is a reasonable measure for Musco to implement in its
effort to characterize LTU assimilative capacity.
It is imperative that you contact Amy Simpson at (559) 445-6187 to discuss your situation if the reports
cann s bmitted by the specified deadlines. --
BERT .
