' • tnnedy/Jenks Consultants
t conducted characterization activities at the Jepsen Webb Ranch property. Musco personnel
also collected data at the Valley View Thoroughbred Farm property. Kennedy/Jenks advanced
CPT borings and conducted groundwater sampling at existing wells in the vicinity of potential
' reclamation properties. In addition, a new groundwater monitoring well was installed and
sampled by Kleinfelder at the Jepsen Webb Ranch. A summary of the activities is presented
below.
' 3.2.1 Characterization Activities at Jepsen Webb Ranch
' CPT Borings
From 24 through 26 March 2004,four CPT borings were advanced at each of the four corners
' of the Jepsen Webb Ranch property as described in detail in Section 5 below. Groundwater was
not encountered in the borings.
' Groundwater Sampling
On 12 April 2004, a groundwater sample was collected from the "Hansen Road Well" a
domestic groundwater production well located near the former Cordes Ranch property,
' approximately 1.9 miles northwest of the Jepsen Webb Ranch property and 1.4 miles north of
the Valley View Thoroughbred Farm property, to obtain information on the ambient groundwater
quality in the reclamation area. The locations of the wells are shown on Figure 3.
' The Hansen Road Well is apparently used to supply water to an occupied house located on the
property west of some equipment sheds. The well is believed to have a total depth of 248 feet
1 bgs and the depth to water is unknown.
A groundwater sample from this well was submitted for analyses that included nitrate and nitrite
' as nitrogen, ammonia as nitrogen, calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, iron, manganese,
total alkalinity as CaCO3, total hardness as CaCO3, chloride, fluoride, sulfate, pH, TDS, and total
organic carbon (TOC). The analytical results are presented in Table 1.
tNew Well Installation and Groundwater Sampling
On 6 July 2004, Kleinfelder installed a new groundwater monitoring well on the western edge of
' the Jepsen Webb Ranch property. The well, designated "Kagehiro-1"was completed to a depth
of 100 feet bgs with a screened interval of 65 to 85 feet below ground surface. Filter pack was
placed between 63 and 90 feet bgs. The depth to water in the well was 67 feet bgs.
After development on 12 July 2004, the Kagehiro-1 well was sampled on 13 July 2004. It was
observed that the water was slow to recover to its original depth in the well. The groundwater
sample was submitted for analyses that included TDS and fixed dissolved solids (FDS), total
Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN), ammonia-N, boron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, alkalinity,
biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand, chloride, fluoride, nitrate-N,
sulfate, and pH measured in the laboratory. The analytical results are presented in Table 1.
1
1
Reclamation Report, Page 8
' Musco Family Olive Company
9W-muswoWA9-repo Wwa.mn rytMu:coreclane-tion rG't'1 Wm 812.M.dce
