Box 2009 1%%a"'l(:)WENW Ntqn.
1601 East Hazelton Ave. ry^nar-
Stockton, California 95201
Dear Mr. Lyon,
Please find enclosed the soil remediation proposal for the two
former underground storage tank areas at the Laura Scudders Plant
located at 100 W. Valpico Road in Tracy, California. This report
outlines the conclusions of the site investigation activities
conducted on January 24 , 1990.
As can be seen by reviewing this report, there appears to be no
concerns associated with the two tank areas and we request, on the
behalf of Borden, Inc. and their subsidiary Laura Scudders, Inc. ,
that the recommendations cited in WESTON's November 71, 1989 "Tank
Area Closure Report" be implemented and that clean closure be
approved for the tank areas.
WESTON realizes that the stockpile soil issue remains unresolved
and we are currently working with you to resolve this issue.
However, escrow for the site is scheduled to close at 5: 00 p.m.
February 5, 1990 and escrow closure is pending upon receipt of
notification from your department that no environmental concerns
exist within the former tank areas.
Therefore, we request that whatever steps are necessary to achieve
this goal are taken and WESTON will gladly authorize overtime
compensation for your staff to achieve the tank area closure.
We realize that this is an extremely short time frame and if final
authorization cannot be issued, perhaps a telephone call to the
buyers legal counsel stating your agency's position may suffice.
On behalf of Borden, Inc. , I would like to express my appreciation
to you and your department for the assistance given in this matter
