May 2, 2013
Mr. Ellis Cecchini
Cecchini Cecchini & Giovannoni
3000 E. 18" Street
Antioch, CA 94509
CUFSubject: Cherokee Truck (former) O#: 8109
R
3535 E. Cherokee Road O#: 0118
Stockton, CA 95205
Dear Mr. Cecchini,
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has received and reviewed
Well Destruction Work Plan (WP) dated 08 April 2013, prepared and submitted on your behalf
by your consultant, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE).
In WP, AGE proposes to destroy seven wells (MW5NP1, MW-7, MW-8, MW-9, VW-1, VW-2
and VW-3) by removing the well contents by over-drilling the wells and grouting from total depth
to the surface with neat portland cement. AGE proposes to destroy the other seven wells
(MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, MW-6, SI-1, SI-2 and SI-3) by pressure grouting the wells utilizing a thick
neat portland cement mixture, installing a pressure connection to the top of the well casing and
applying 25 pounds per square inch pressure for at least 10 minutes. The wells will then be
over-drilled to a depth of 3 feet below surface grade (bsg), the casing removed six inches above
the base of the over-excavation, and filling the excavation to a foot above the base of the
excavation making a mushroom cap over the casing, The remainder of the excavation to be
filled with clean fill material and the surface returned to its original condition.
The EHD approves the WP with the following exception:
Low concentrations of benzene were encountered in soil samples collected from the boring
advanced to install monitoring well MW-4. No remediation was performed in the area, so the
knownwell is in an area of
on and, in accordance with the
Standards of San Joaqu nCounty, must also be destroyed by removal of the well contentsf Well
Prior to pressure grouting the wells approvgd for that me of d str odor, verify
thatells the wells
st bs
are unobstructed from surface grade to each well%® otal depth fiy
cleared of the obstruction prior to destrucio pressure grouting. If the obstruction cannot be
removed, the well must be destroyed by removal of the well contents.
Well Destruction WP Approval Letter 0513
