Cherokee Road O#: 0118 Stockton, CA 95205 Dear Mr. Cecchini, The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has received and reviewed Well Destruction Work Plan (WP) dated 08 April 2013, prepared and submitted on your behalf by your consultant, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE). In WP, AGE proposes to destroy seven wells (MW5NP1, MW-7, MW-8, MW-9, VW-1, VW-2 and VW-3) by removing the well contents by over-drilling the wells and grouting from total depth to the surface with neat portland cement. AGE proposes to destroy the other seven wells (MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, MW-6, SI-1, SI-2 and SI-3) by pressure grouting the wells utilizing a thick neat portland cement mixture, installing a pressure connection to the top of the well casing and applying 25 pounds per square inch pressure for at least 10 minutes. The wells will then be over-drilled to a depth of 3 feet below surface grade (bsg), the casing removed six inches above the base of the over-excavation, and filling the excavation to a foot above the base of the excavation making a mushroom cap over the casing, The remainder of the excavation to be filled with clean fill material and the surface returned to its original condition. The EHD approves the WP with the following exception: Low concentrations of benzene were encountered in soil samples collected from the boring advanced to install monitoring well MW-4.
